- As a Catholic in America, we are outnumbered and very poor. I just want to worship God! At least Queen Elizabeth I isn’t persecuting us anymore.
- Pope Pius VI granted the people’s request to allow them to vote who shall be the bishop and now I, John Carrol, am the first Bishop in America!
- I have planted the seeds of a Church that can grow and thrive. I have also increased the amount of priests in America by six fold and Women’s religious orders have had dramatic growth due to my seminaries I have established
- I am and immigrant from Ireland and my friends from Germany, Italy, and Eastern Europe will be coming soon. We all are Catholics.
- I am a know-nothing and I hate Catholic immigrants because you are trying to take us over. I am going to riot with others.
- I want my own Church that has German speaking pastors. I do not like the English speaking pastors, mainly the Irish. I am going to form my own Ethnic Parish to practice Catholicism in my native language.
- I am from Eastern Europe and I belong to the Eastern Catholic Church. I brought my faith from there and we celebrate our own liturgical customs and worship on our own. We also follow our own canon law, the Code of Canons of the Oriental Churches.
- I am and immigrant from Ireland and my friends from Germany, Italy, and Eastern Europe are coming and we all are Catholic.
