- The Declaration of Independence was an official act taken by all 13 colonies in declaring independence from British rule. A group of men- the founding fathers- came together in 1776 to find ways to become independant.

- The Constitution was written in 1787 and is a set of rules that guides how a country, state, or other political organization works.September 17, 1787

- It was the first major battle of the Revolutionary War to take place after the United States declared its independence on July 4, 1776. The British victory for this battle gave them control of strategically important Port of New York.

- WE LOST CONTROL OF NEW JERSEY! WE MUST RETREAT TO NEW YORK!
- The British wanted to take New York so they would be able to trade furs with the Native Americans. They ended up winning the battle, and taking the land. August 26, 1776.
- George Washington decided to attack the British in New Jersey before entering winter quarters. Washington and the Continental Army arrived to Princeton using a back road, where they pushed back a smaller British force.December 26, 1776.
- The British lost control of New Jersey and retreated to New York. Following this battle, the Americans had faith that they could win.January 3, 1777.
