- Dolly Winthrop went to Silas' house because she wanted to help and motivate him. She also tried to persuade him to go to the church in Christmas
- Master Marner, would you like to join us in church for Christmas?
- In truth, I prefer to stay alone because I am not interested in religion.
- At the New Year's Eve event, Godfrey had planned to dance with Miss Nancy to get closer to her, but she turned him down several times until he insisted and asked her to help him.
