  • YOU SUCK GRRRRRRRRR
  • HAHA IMAGINE BEING POOR HAHAHHEAEHAEAHAEHAHEHEAHEH
  • Rise of the Roman Republic A Perspective of a Patrician
  • GIVE US RIGHTS!!!!
  • so annoying
  • In 509 B.C.E we patricians were led by Lucius Junius Brutus to beat up that TRASH equestrian king. Instead of a monarchy, we developed a republic, where the people elect a government official to represent the people. Of course, when we're talking about people we're only talking about us super cool patricians. Just thinking of those dirty plebeians helping serve in the government gives me chills!
  • WRITE DOWN LAWS!!!
  • UGH FINE!
  • We, patricians, are upper class were super-rich, and have a lot of land because of how amazing we are. Thanks to that, we are also able to hold important military and religious offices. We can choose to form ourselves the father of the state, which advises the equestrian king. The poorer people here are called plebeians. They are the more, common people.
  • EQUAL!
  • EQUAL...
  • We, patricians, held aaaall the power. Plebeians had to obey us. We did change laws often, but it wasn't a big deal. I didn't know that plebeians were so touchy. Around 494 B.C.E, those nasty Plebeians marched right out of our city. They demanded more political rights. How annoying! They stopped doing their work and refused to bow down to us. They just camped on a nearby hill like cowards. Those rats!
  • We ended up having to give them rights so all of us didn't go nuts. They were able to elect some nerd called the Tribune of plebs who represented them. They could also elect a lawmaking body, called the council of plebs who only made laws for plebeians. They still weren't happy though and around 451 B.C.E, they forced us to have to write down laws!
  • and a new law was created near 367 B.C.E, saying that one of the two consuls must be a Plebeian. Those rascals! I shiver in my timbers thinking of being partially ruled by these guys. DISGUSTING! Just when I thought it wouldn't get worse, In 287 B.C.E the plebeians got the right to pass laws for all Roman citizens. We were pretty much equal now, other than us amazing Patricians being so rich. My life was ruined by these ugly guys!
