- What is Mrs. Katherine's test on, exactly?
- The test is on classifying 5 chemical reactions.
- Synthesis is when two or more elements combine to make a compound.For example, Mg+02 --> MgO
- The first two we're going to learn is Synthesis and Decomposition
- Decomposition is when a compound breaks down into 2 or more elements. For example, CaCO3 --> CaO+Co2
- That's right! Now do you know what's decomposition?
- Single and double displacement are tricky for me...could you explain their reactions?
- Single-Displacement is a reaction where one element replaces a similar element in a compound. For example,
- So a reaction for a single- displacement would beZn+ 2HCl -- > ZnCl2+H2
