- Story of Coal : About 300 million years ago , the earth consisted of dense forests in low lying wet lands. Due to natural processes , like flooding these forests got buried under the soil. The temperature rose as they sank deeper and deeper and under high pressure these dead plants got slowly converted into coal...
- This process is called "CARBONIZATION" as it mainly contains carbon . It is also called as fossil fuel.... It is done by Mining ...
- Fossil fuels are fuels produced naturally from dead remains of vegetation that got buried in soil and rocks .They produce heat and light on burning....
- This is so interesting to learn aunt!!I have a doubt?. What is meant by fossil fuel aunt?
- Varieties :*PEAT,*LIGNITE,*BETUMINOUS,*ANTHRACITE. PEAT-LESS CarbonANTHRACITE-HIGH CARBON CONTENT.
- COKE -(solid form) is a black substance ,it is a pure form of carbon. Used in manufacture and extraction of metals. COAL TAR- We get more than 200 useful substance from it,(liquid form).COAL GAS-obtained during the processing of coal(gas form).
- We get some useful products from coal such as coke , coal tar, coal gas.
