- Spices were valued and other products in Asia . Christopher Columbus thought he could reach Asia by going through the Alantic Ocean but no one new what was on the other side.He reached the Bahamas in 1492.
- Cabeza de Vaca
- He was the first Europeans to see the Texas coast an map the Gulf of Mexico. Like others he wanted to find riches.They saw Indians with gold jewerly and went to find the city with the riches. They went but when they got there, there was no riches.
- Coronado
- He sailed to Mexico and found the first spaniard settlement.They learned of the Aztec Empire and they had riches,the Cortes wanted it.He sank his ships so they could not retreat so victory was the only option.They fought and in the end they overtook The Empire and got the riches.
- La Salle
- He traded mesquite beans and shells with the Indians. They didn't have much to wear so they went naked. Eventually he was captured and he met some people that helped him escape.He and the other people traveled with the indians and he healered among the Indians.He came bakc and reported the city of gold.
- To get the city of gold for their own,they had to get 300 soilders, and 1000 Mexican Indians.A short while later, they won and they were happy but they were not happy for long.It turned out that the village was made of adobe and the sunlight made it look like gold. Some of his men saw the grand canyon and the rio grande.
- He convinced the King to establihs a colony at the Mississippi river.He lost 2 ships on the way. He built a fort and tried to make terms with the Indians but taht did not go well.He decided he wanted to get supplies and while he was gone the fort was attacked by Indians.He escaped but was killed by his own men.
