Alosa is the main character of the book. She is in fact the daughter of the pirate King making herself a brutal & fearsome pirate to all. The two men in this panel are enemy pirates by the name of Draxten and Riden. At this point in time they believe they are capturing the great Pirate Alosa. Little do they know she is on a mission. She has gotten herself into this exact situation so that she can recive something from there ship. Everyone here thinks they have bested a distinguished enemy but Alosa is just where she wants to be.

At this moment Alosa seems to be locked up with no way of escaping. Wrong, Alosa could leave in a second do to her vast amount of training and experience but as it was mentioned she is where she must be.
This map is one of three. As a matter of fact this is exactly what Alosa was sent to the ship for. Her father the Pirate king put her on the complicated mission of retrieving the map. When all three map pieces are to be combined the location of toppling jewels and gold will be reveled.
Unexpectedly Riden and Alsoa fall in love. Both are bound to their pirate duties and know they could never be together under these circumstances. At first Alosa sees Ridens feelings as means of manipulating him into telling her where the map is. She did not in fact account for the problem she may end up deeply caring for him. The complication apparent here is that they are both going after the same treasure while also undergoing a long line of nemesis between their families.
“His colours are split. He’s torn between the loyalty he has towards his brother and what he feels for me. Two entirely different swirls of red—the hardest colour to decipher" (Levenseller 243)
“I am mostly human. But when I allow myself to use the gifts my mother gave me, I become something else. And it kills me a little inside each time I have to fight it back off" (Levenseller 286).
Alosas mother is a deadly siren. Fearing the siren side of her will one day suppress the human in her blood she tends fear her abilities until they gravely need be invoked. At this point in time it is also reveled the great treasure is guarded by the siren kingdom.
When Alosa finally finds the map among her enemies ship. She calls her own ship of deadly pirates to come pick her up from her mission. In a battle for the map each crew fight each other until only one is left standing. Could Alosa really go through with killing someone she has grown so fond of? This battle sums up the ending while each characters true colors are reveled.
