- 1248, King Louis XI heard from one of his soldiers that Jerusalem was taken over by the muslims led by Fakhr-Al Din.

- King Louis's army is getting ready for war against Fakhr-Al Din in Egypt

- So King Louis succeeded to capture Damietta but failed to capture Cairo

- When King Louis and his army was going back home from Damietta he was held captive in Damietta. Soon a ransom was made and the french king was set free

- On his way back from Cairo, King Louis got a message from his messenger saying that his mother had passed away. King Louis left Egypt which meant he lost the fight in Cairo and surrendered
