  • we'll need to tie off the pancreatic ducts
  • there's been drops in the dogs blood sugar levels,
  • we need to purify it and reduce the infection rate
  • in order for it to work on humans, i'll be helping with that
  • in 1921, Dr. Banting became the first ever Physician to make a potential treatment for diabetes, in order for Dr. Banting to proceed with his procedure, he goes to Mr. Macleod at the University Of Toronto for a laboratory. He also comes a cross some help, Mr. Best.

  • May 17, 1921, the research had began. The method Dr. Banting used was tying of the dogs pancreatic duct to kill off anything that would prevent the destruction of insulin, Dr. Banting was also assisted by Mr. Best.

  • On November 10, 1921, Dr. Banting and his team saw drops in The dogs blood sugar levels after many trials and errors. A new face joined the team, Mr. Collip. His role was to purify the insulin enough that it would be able to be used on humans.

  • during January 1922, Leonard Thompson, 14 old dying from diabetes, became the first person to be injected with the first ever dose of insulin.
  • Within 24 hours, Leonards blood sugar levels dropped Drastically but still remained high. Mr. Banting and his team worked day and night to perfect the insulin. on January 22, 1922, Leonard Thompson was the first ever in history to be cured from diabetes.
