Why are SMART goals easy and important for wellness? It’s specifically due to its criteria. The S in SMART stands for specific goals. Such as the example given above, when goals are too broad, it’s almost impossible to achieve them. By making goals specific, you are more likely to achieve it. Broad goals are also not measurable. Having a goal that can be measurable is key to achieving the goal. Measuring progress can help motivate people to keep continuing. The A in SMART stands for achievable. The goals must be able to be accomplished. For example, losing 30 pounds in 2 days is not achievable. Picking a goal that can be accomplished improves your belief in yourself, and is key to achieving your goals. The R in SMART stands for Relevant. A goal must be important to yourself, otherwise, you will not be motivated to complete it. The T in SMART stands for time-related. Having a goal time-related is important because it helps avoid procrastination. Putting a time limit pushes the individual to complete the goal when needed to. All these aspects of a SMART goal make it easier to accomplish, which can help support wellness.In conclusion, it’s important to make a SMART goal to help improve overall wellness.

These types of goals are almost impossible to accomplish. As a result, goals for our wellness can often be difficult.
