When I found out that Anne had passed, I was distraught. I had grown so close to this family and finding out that someone I loved and cared for so much had been killed in such a melancholic way, that really upset me.
How did you feel when you heard that Anne had died?
Well, I had first collected her diary in hopes of returning them to her one day. When I found out about the tragic news, I knew I had to give them to someone so she could be remembered somehow. I gave them to someone else who also loved and cared for her deeply. I gave them to Anne's father. He looked for many publishers to publish the book. Many turned him down, but he kept looking. I believe he's the true reason why we know who Anne is today.
Why did you collect Anne's Diary?
Helping others that are in trouble is your true human duty. Even if it may cost you your life, you should always try and help. Another piece of advice I would give is to not help others to call yourself a hero. Helping someone who truly needs it doesn't make you a hero.
What words of advice would you give people my age today?
