- Old major a highly, regarded boar had a strange dream the night before and wanted to communicate it to all the other animals. The animals agreed to all meet up in the barn the next day when Mr Jones was out of the way.
- Old major stands on a platform high in the barn under a lantern hung above him as all the other farm animals begin to arrive to listen to what he had to say
- I had a Dream!
- Old major believes he will pass away soon but would like to pass on the knowledge he has acquired in his life to the other animals On the farm
- I wont stay here forever...Take my knowledge
- The animals listen as old major explains how miserable the lives are of every animal in England and how they are only used a slaves and then slaughtered cruelly
- Whips and chains and Slaughtering!
- Old major explains to the animals how they can escape their harsh lives if man is removed from the picture and also explains how man contributes nothing but gains everything from the animals and once the animals have fulfilled their purpose they will be killed.

- At the end of his speech old major describes that his dream was of a world where man does not rule and how the dream reminded him of the song "Beasts of England" he teaches the words to the other animals for them to then sing after he is gone.
- on the day that set us free for that day we all must labor, though we die before break; Cows and horses Geese and Turkeys all must toil for freedoms sake...
