- During World war two, the US and the Soviet Union fought as allies. though they were allies, they still did not like each other. The US did not like the communism withing the Soviet Union nor the Russian leader, Joseph Stalin.
- Communism
- The US was concerned about the Soviets expansion because they were afraid that they wanted to control the world and spread communism. a policy laid out by George F Kennan said that communism needed to be contained so it doesn't spread to neighboring countries.
- West Germany
- Freedom
- East Germany
- It was a race to space between the Soviet Union and the US. The Soviet sent a mistle to space and was known as the first artificial satellite placed into earths orbit. The US than launched their own satellite to space. Soviets were still ahead and launched the first man into space.
- Friends again?
- This was a time when the US was making and holding a bunch of nuclear warfare. This helped them keep containment secure. People were afraid of nuclear war-fare
- The Berlin wall was originally built to keep east and west Germany separated. it was built to keep the communist east from escaping to the west. In 1989, it was destroyed by Berlin natives given permission to cross.
- After the Fall of the Berlin wall, west and east Germany reunified. The cold war than came to an end and the Soviet and US were no longer "fighting"
