- The town is gathering up in the middle of the town center,while they wait they talk with one another and wait for all of the households to gather at the town center.
- The children of the town are gathering up stones for the person that gets the black dot.The kids shove the stones into their pockets and run to stand with their parents.
- Mr.Summers calls each household to draw a piece of paper.
- The Hutchinson family gets the black dot.They put all of the papers between the five of them,each of them draw and open their paper and show everyone if they have the dot or don't have the dot.Tessie draws the dot.
- Tessie screams and cries that BIll her husband didn't have enough time to draw and that it isn't fair they she got picked.
- The town gathers stones and Tessie is still saying that it isn't fair that she has to die and the crowd crowds around her and throw stones at her.
