- We are in our native country, farming peacefully
- We’ve been sent by the chief to enslave you!
- We’ve been forced to walk to the west coast from central Africa, chained together, receiving little food
- We’ve been stored in this cold, damp barracoon with other slaves waitfing for a boat to arrive
- They separated the boys and girls and put us all below deck. We were chained to the ground and forced to sit in piles of our own mucus, blood and faeces while people died from disease. I’m allowed above deck, once a day to exercise.
- I was branded, covered in tar and forced to display my physical ability to the bidders. I was eventually bought by an old farm owner
- We’ve been stored in this cold, damp barracoon with other slaves until a ship arrived
