- A gas has an indefinite shape and volume. The particles can move around quickly in all directions when in motion. The particles are packed loosely and the interaction of the particles is very little.

- a. Melting is when heat is added to a solid and turns it into a liquid, this causes the IMFs to decrease. b. Sublimation is when a solid is turned into a gas. In sublimation, heat is added. This causes the IMFs to go from high to decrease.
