All states should have equal voice in order to be fair with representation for smaller states.
The New Jersey PlanProposed by William Patterson, the New Jersey Plan attempted to give the smaller states more equal representation. The plan called for each state to have one vote regardless of size, similar to the system implemented in the Articles.
The Virginia PlanThe Virginia Plan was proposed by James Madison and advocated for a strong central government with three branches: the executive branch, the judiciary branch, and the bicameral legislature. The plan intended to award votes by population.
States deserve to have votes be proportionate to the population in their state.
The Connecticut Plan allows us both to get the representation we want. A great compromise!
The Connecticut PlanThe Connecticut Plan called for a bicameral legislature with differing ideas of determining representation. The legislature was composed of a house with population-based representation, and a senate with 2 votes given to each state.
