Salva traveled across the Akobo desert to get to a safe refugee camp with his group, which his Uncle lead. But traveling across the desert, late one night a group of men came and stole everyone´s clothes and food and stole Uncle´s gun then shot him, and left.
¨Hundreds of people lined the riverbank. The soldiers were forcing some of them into the water, prodding them with there rifle butts, shooting into the air. Other people, afraid of the soldiers and their guns, leaping into the water on their own.¨ (77)
