  • Over 20,000 youngsters marched from Germany and France to the Mediterranean in the year 1212. The majority of children are between the ages of 9 and 12.
  • Stephen, a shepherd child from France, taught about the Crusade. He roused a large number of children, but French officials prevented many of them from leaving. Nicholas encouraged hundreds of children in Germany to join him on a Crusade.
  • The children arrived in small groups or in pairs. They would seek food and refuge in towns and villages. People would give these Innocent kids whatever they wanted. They didn't have any money or food, and they didn't know where Jerusalem was.
  • Some Muslims offered to transport the children to Palestine on their ships without charging a fee since they revered the holy cross.
  • Despite the fact that over 5,000 youngsters fled Marseille, none of them made it to Palestine. A few ships were lost in storms, but the majority of them unloaded the youngsters in the East's slave markets.
