- (4) Okay Sheila, what would be the first step to solve this equation?
- (1)So, class let's have a board work about linear equation. Who wants to be the first?

- 2x + 3 = 212x = 21-32x = 182x/2 = 18/2x = 9
- (3) Okay I get it
- (2)First, I transpose 3 to the right side, then it was subtracted from 21 resulting 18. Then I divided 2 to both sides of the equation that's why it became 9.

- (1) Actually guys there is property behind these solution.
- (2) First here is what we called addition property of equality , We add both sides (-3) which is the additive inverse of 3 to eliminate it. As a result 3 - 3 is 0. Then on the other side (-3) what subtracted from 21.
- (3) Also, here we use the multiplication property of equality wherein we multiply both sides the reciprocal of the coefficient of the variable of x which is 1/2.
