Frederick Douglass was a young boy on the plantation. His master sent him to maryland. This is where he met Mrs. Auld and Mr. Auld this was his owners.
Mrs. Auld and Mr. Auld saw a little boy at there front door, and Mrs. Auld took Frederick Douglas in the house. Mrs. Auld was new to being a slave owner and started to teach young Frederick how to read. When Mr. Auld found out that Mrs. Auld was teaching Frederick Douglass to read, he told her that a slave can’t read. You must not teach a slave to read.
Mrs. Auld said, “ I have never had a slave under my control.” Mr. Auld reponeded, “ Tell Frederick Douglass to do something else like carry firewood.” Mrs. Auld looked very angry and she yelled at Frederick Douglass very loudly. She was very sweet and nice until her eyes became very red with rage. Her sweet voice turned into a horrible voice.
