- At the beginning of the chapter, we see Odysseus be more of a leader by leading his crew onto the island where they meet a cyclops.
- Because Odysseus and his men are stuck in the cave with the Cyclops, they stab the cyclops in the eye so they can hide underneath the sheep without being found.
- Odysseus changed at the end of the story by boasting his dominance over the Cyclops, which in turn made the cyclops place a curse on Odysseus.
