- Pearl Harbor was attacked on December 7,1941.That set of a chain of events for the U.S. involvement into World War II. Also, it heightened the racial tension with Japanese Americans and the U.S .

- Many Japanese Americans were forced into Internment Camps. Families just grabbed very few belongings. Many of these camps were in the middle of nowhere with a single house for the family to live in with bare necessities. These camps had high barbed wire fence and with machine gun towers all around.
- The demand for workers skyrocketed during World War II.Woman still worked their normal jobs but many women took jobs that men had like being a welder,mechanics,and many other jobs. Nearly 2 million woman joined to work in shipyards and produce other thing fr the war.
- When the draft came about in 1940 thousands of African Americans lined up to join the Armed Forces. Except for the longest time they couldn't serve all they were allowed to do was cook and clean. At home the other African Americans were trying to improve rights.
- More the 500,000 Americans Jews joined the military. The American Jew GIs faced prejudice. But many of them took the experience to see and learn these different cultures .
- In 1943 Mexican Americans and even white Americans wore these suits and were called Zoot Suit. Los Angeles in 1943 there was a racial riot called the Zoot Suit Riot. Many sailors and marines would look for these people in the suits and the cops wouldn't do anything about it. These was later deemed as racial prejudice since they were Mexican Americans.
