  • Germain created a new plan for the British by taking control of the New york's Hudson River Valley so he could separate the rebelliosns and separate New England from the rest of the states. because that is the source of the continental supplies.
  • To put the plan into action BurGoyne took a route to Albany, New York from Canada whick took more than 20 miles of wilderness. This created a mess for the army. On top of that General Howe did not go towards Albany but to Philadelphia to make an effort to create a war with Washington.
  • Once Burgoyne and his army reached Saratoga Springs on the Hudson River the area was covered in militia men. The milita men outnumbered the British and unconsiderly Buygoyne ordered a attack on the rebels. The rebels kept on winning no matter how many times thaey fought back. This event was a turning point as it showed that there was a chance in the Americans winning. This led to the French and Spain being an ally to the Americans and hlping them with supplies to armies.
  • At this time There was a day of Thanksgiving in the late 1777 to celebrate the army's success against the British. Howe was still in Philadelphia. Wahington and the army were ont heir way to Valley Forge, Pennsylvania to make camp for the winter. At this point they were very low in supplies from food to clothes.
  • To help make things better, Washington put a military officer named Baron Friedrich von Stueben from Prussia in charge of the trainig. This had helped the troops very much as in to help lift their hopes. Another guy that was introduced to help the troops was Marquis de Lafayette. He was very beneficial as he was one of the richest men in France and helped the men to get clothing, food, and more. After this, right on the dot the British were about to leave Philadelphia. This is the time to show what the American had up their sleeves.
  • At this time, Howe was not in charge anymore but a new commander was in place who was Sir Henry Clinton. The British army was guided back to New York City.
