- This scene is when the Nazis stole all of the belonging from Yanek's complex. The mother is frozen in fear while the father is trying to comfort her. They had to give all of their belongings away including food. while all that is happening the body of one of their neighbors is being dragged out of a complex with a bullet lodged in his head.
- chapter 10:Yanek got a new job and it was to clean the Ghettos he used to live in. he went in and went to one of the higher stories in the building. he found one of his neighbor's rotting corpse in one of the rooms. he tried to avoid it while he searched the rest of his complex. later on, he found 2000 zolty in hidden pockets, sewed it into his uniform, and left with it.
- Chapter 14: Yanek gets transferred to a concentration camp to move rocks back and forth and dig holes 6 feet deep. The nazis would make them do useless things to do for the whole day. The nazis would shoot someone just because or because they "wouldn't be carrying big enough rocks." Once they were done moving the rocks to one place, they would have to move it back. Afterwards, they would go to sleep and do the same thing again the next day.
