"He threw himself on me like a wild beast, beating me in the chest, on my head, throwing me to the ground and picking me up again, crushing me with ever more violent blows, until I was covered in blood" (Wiesel 53). This shows a Man vs. Man conflict because it is 2 people physically fighting. Elie is getting beat up by another person.
Man vs. Nature
"If I was going to kill myself, this would be the time. ... I gathered all that remaining strength in order to break rank and throw myself onto the barbed wire" (Wiesel 33-34). This is a Man vs. Self conflict because Elie is fighting an internal conflict trying to decide if he should end his own life. He is attempting to decide, by himself, if it would be easier to be done before the worst of it begins.
Man vs. Society
"And then, there was no longer any reason for me to fast. I no longer accepted God's silence" (Wiesel 69).This shows a Man vs. God conflict because Elie is frustrated with God. Elie chooses to go against his traditional routines because he is upset that God is not answering or doing anything to help him.
The End
"An icy wind was blowing violently. But we marched without faltering" (Wiesel 85).This is an example of Man vs. Nature because the prisoners are battling the elements on their journey. They are traveling in and fighting very harsh conditions.
'' ' Jews, listen to me...' Even I did not believe him" (Wiesel 7).This is an example of Man vs. Society because Moishe the Beadle is trying to warn the Jewish community of danger and no one is listening to him. Moishe is fighting to be heard and the community is shutting him down.
