- EXPOSITION:Mrs. Louise Mallard is suffering from sickness to her weak heart condition. Her sister, Josephine is worried about her, especially the bad news that is about to hear. Josephine comforts her.

- How do we tell her about the accident?
- RISING ACTION:Mrs. Louise Mallard's sister Josephine and her husband's friend Richards sensitively told her that her husband has been killed in a tragic accident. She was devastated.
- CLIMAX: While Mrs. Louise Mallard mourns the death of her husband, she realizes that she is free now. She feels joy about her own independence, "free, free, free!".

- FALLING ACTION:After Mrs. Louise Mallard accepted the fact that she is free now, Mr. Brently Mallard surprisingly appeared unharmed by the tragic accident.

- RESOLUTION:Mrs. Louise Mallard falls on the floor and died of heart attack, "of the joy that kills". Mr. Brently Mallard thought that she was overjoyed to see him, but in fact she realizes that her freedom was not happening and died.
