  • Isn't it neato that the British controls almost all of India? We are making a lot of $$$
  • By 1850, the British controlled most of the Indian subcontinent. Many Indians believed that in addition to controlling their land, the British were trying to convert them to Christianity. The Indian people also resented the constant racism that the British expressed toward them.
  • Yeah it is, but I wish the Indians would convert to Christianity faster.
  • To use the cartridges, soldiers had to bite off the ends. Both Hindus, who consider the cow sacred, and Muslims, who do not eat pork, were outraged by the news. Majority of Sepoys were either Hindu or Muslim.
  • Apparently our gun cartridges are lubricated with pig and cow fat
  • Did you hear the gossip?
  • No what is it?
  • NOOOOOOOO, that can't be true
  • Many sepoys refused the cartridges, if they did they were thrown in jail. This started the rebellion. The uprising spread over much of northern India. Fierce fighting took place. Both British and sepoys tried to slaughter each other’s armies. The Indians could not unite against the British due to weak leadership and serious splits between Hindus and Muslims.
