- A pond is one kind of freshwater ecosystem. The water temperature depends on where the pond is. Some ponds may freeze during the winter. Many plants live in and around a pond. A lot of animals live in the water, and also around the water. There are many insects in this habitat, too.

- An ocean is a large saltwater ecosystem. Most of the earth is covered by oceans. The ocean has many layers. Most plants and animals live in the top layer so they can get sunlight and food. There are lots of different kinds of animals who call the ocean their home.

- The polar tundra is always very cold. Few plants live here because very little rain falls. The animals that live here have thick fur and blubber to stay warm.
