The Griffin only eats people on the two yearly equinoxes and the townspeple are feeling anxious with the autumnal equinox coming up and they chase the Minor Canon away in hopes that the Griffin will follow.

The Griffin finds out that the Townspeople chased the Minor Canon away and becomes very angry! he takes his statue and flies away.
