- Sept. 1793-July 1794

- July 27, 1794
- The reign of terror will finally be over!
- Former king of France, Louis Capet was sentenced to death. For the first time in thousands of years the french people were not ruled by a monarch.
- Nov. 9-10, 1799
- I appoint myself Frances first consul!
- This time period was called the Reign of Terror. Frances government ordered the arrest and execution of thousands of people.
- Robespierre was arrested and executed with his fellow Jacobins. This ended the Reign of terror.
- Bonaparte appointed himself Frances "first consul". This marked the end of the French revolution and the beginning of the Napoleonic era.
