  • The reign of terror will finally be over!
  • Former king of France, Louis Capet was sentenced to death. For the first time in thousands of years the french people were not ruled by a monarch.
  • Nov. 9-10, 1799
  • I appoint myself Frances first consul!
  • This time period was called the Reign of Terror. Frances government ordered the arrest and execution of thousands of people.
  • Robespierre was arrested and executed with his fellow Jacobins. This ended the Reign of terror.
  • Bonaparte appointed himself Frances "first consul". This marked the end of the French revolution and the beginning of the Napoleonic era.
