- "I think it was his eye! yes, it was this! He had the eye of a vulture --a pale blue eye, with a film over it. Whenever it fell upon me, my blood ran cold; and so by degrees --very gradually --I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye forever."
- FALLING ACTION
- For seven nights, I watched the old man at mid night but his eye was closed."Oh, you would have laughed to see how cunningly I thrust it in! I moved it slowly --very, very slowly, so that I might not disturb the old man's sleep. It took me an hour to place my whole head within the opening so far that I could see him as he lay upon his bed."
- RESOLUTION
- One day, while I was being extremely cautious, my hand slipped on the lantern.The old man woke right up,his heart thundering.His hour has come.
- The police come over and I greet them with open hands, for what have I got to fear?. I seat them in the bedroom and, I, in the audacity of my recent truimph, place my seat on the spot where i hid the old man.
- I suddenly began to hear a soun (boom,boom) It was the old mans heat!The police were laughing! They knew. They were mocking me.I jumped up and admitted to the deed.
