- A young teen, Roger, unsuccessfully attempts to steal a powerfully built woman’s purse as she walks home from work late at night on the streets of Harlem, New York.
- This woman looks weak.
- The woman gets the boy by his shirt and pulls him up. They have a dialogue about what would Roger do if she let him loose. After all of that she takes him to her house.
- Well, she wasn't as weak as I thought.
- In her house she told him that she was like him when she was little and probably worse, she also got Roger to wash his face.
- You ought to be my son!
- ‘’When a boy ran up behind her and tried to snatch her purse.’’
- Roger got food at her house as she was very good,then they started talking and the woman told him about her job and taught him a life lesson .
- is she going to make me food.
- I work in a hotel beauty-shop, it is open until late at night.
- ‘’Picked the boy up by his shirt front.’’
- when he was about to leave she gave him 10pounds to buy the shoes that she wanted.
- ‘’You ought to be my son.’’
- ‘’She told him about her job in a hotel beauty-shop that stayed open late.’’
- ‘’Now, here, take this ten dollars.’’
