  • Germany created a new plan/strategy for the British by taking control of the New Yorks Hudson River Valley sohe could separate the rebellions and separate New England from the rest of the states
  • In order to put the plan to work Burgoyne took a route to Albany, New York from Canada which took more than 21 miles of pure wilderness. This created a mess for the army. They were all tired and worn out which make them not want to fight.
  • As soon as Burgoyne and his army arrived to Saratoga Springs they were greeted by a bunch of militiamen. These men outnumbered the British and forcefully ordered an attack against the rebels. The British could not stop losing no matter how much they fought. This eventually led to a turning point as it shows that there was a chance in the Americans winning. Soon France and Spain started being an ally to the Americans and they were helping with the sesesities like food, clothing, and supply's.
  • By now there was a day of giving thanks (Thanksgiving) in late 1777 to celebrate the army's success against the British. Howe was still in Philide;phia at this time. Washington and the army were out on their way to Valley Forge, Pennsylvania to make camp for the winter. At this point, they were very low in supplies from food to clothes.
  • In order to make things better, Wahington put a military officer named Baron Friedrich von Stueben from Prussia in charge of training the army. In hopes that they will be better. Soon Marquis Lafayette was introduced to also help save the army. He was very helpful to the men. He was one of the richest men in France and help them get more food and clothing. and lots more. From now on the British did not leave Philadelphia.
  • Around this time, Howe was not in charge anymore but a new commander was in place who was Sir Henry Clinton. The British had camped by them. Once the British ended up crossing the Hudson River into New York City. This was finally the place were both armies started and ended.
