- 1066JANUARY, EDWARD'S DEATH AND HAROLD'S CORONATION
- Edward had decided this because he had no children to succeed him. The problem was that he promised two other people his succession as well..
- The News Had Spread

- Harold Godwinson was very happy about this.
- The Battle Of Stamford (September 25th 1066)
- Edward died on the 5th of January 1066, and that same day wasHarold's coronation.
- The Battle Of Hastings (14 October 1066)
- Once William (The Duke Of Normandy) and Harald Hardrada heard about the news of Harold Godwinson's coronation, they were furious. They too were promised the succession.
- In late September Harald arrived in the North Of England. Once Harold heard about this, he gathered his men and took them 185 miles in only 4 days just to find Harald and HIS men in Stamford Bridge. He ended up killing Harald with a surprise attack.
- On the 14th of October 1066, the Battle of Hastings had taken place in Sussex. After defeating Harald, Harold Godwinson marched 241 miles which was 386 kilometers to only intercept William and his men. William ended up defeating Harold because some say he was shot in the eye. When The Bayeux Tapestry was later stitched a few years after, it showed that he was shot in the eye by an arrow. The end!
