- A Long Way Gone important events
- Ishmael is experienceing one of the biggest breakouts of war he has ever seen. People are running in different directions in a matter of seconds because of the rebels gunshots. And most of the people living here have not experienced such horror before and are clueless about what to do.
- "In a matter of seconds,people started screaming and running in different directions" (beah 36)
- "Junior was in front of me his hands didnt swing like they used to we he strolled across the yard on his way back from school" (beah 40)
- Ishmael and the people around him do not have any emotion. They are unhapily walking down a narrow path after seeing the war take over many villages. not one person in the group knows if there will be shelter or food anytime in the next few days.
- "tears formed in my eyes, but i was too hungry to cry" (beah 40)
- "We didnt say a word or even look at eachother. rather we rushed on the boy at the same time, before he knew what was happening we had taken the corn from him" (beah 44)
- Ishmael is starving to death there are no food scources for him or the group. fighting for food is the only way to survive at this point. even being so careless the boy is not effected and the family gives the group a small amount of food later after realizing how close to starving they were
- "some had heard roumours about young boys being forced by the rebels to kill their families and burn thier villigas" (beah 52)
- ishmael is being discriminated against because of what people have heard about a certain age group. People will not help him out or eaven let them near because of their age.
- "I was outside sitting on the steps. I had no time to go look for him, since the attack was sudden, but instead had to run into the bush alone. That night I slept by myself, leaning on a tree." (beah 60)
- Ishmael is devastated because the villige he was in was taken out by the rebels. Many of the people that had helped him were killed and it was so caotic he lost track of his brother.
