Storyboard Text

  • We see America and wait for the health inspection.
  • Stop #2: The Arrival
  • It's the Statue of Liberty!
  • This part could decide if you had to go back to your country.
  • Stop #4: The stairs to the Registry Room.
  • We had to walk through this hallway and the medical personal watched us to see if we had any problems.
  • Stop #5: The Registry Room
  • This is the stop where most people ended up getting sent back to their countries, if they had a disability or a contagious/incurable disease, then they were sent back, and this was just right before the real medical exam.
  • If they thought that you had a problem, then you went for further examination, but everyone was examined.
  • During this stop, all of the immigrants got a medical exam. If they showed signs of madness or a disease, then they were sent back to their country.
  • This stop is very important because it could determine if someone were to stay or go.
  • Stop #6: The Medical Exam
  • The Manifest had important information on it like the birthdays, where they are from, if they had money, and other important info. If the info that that passengers gave the inspectors then they could get in a lot of trouble.
  • Stop #7: The Legal Inspection
  • During this stop passengers were called up to speak to inspector. The inspectors all had a special list called The Manifest. This list the names of all of the passengers and some important information.
  • When their cases were finally heard then the Board of Special Inquiry would arrive and speak about the case. They are the ones that decided if the immigrant stayed or if they went back.
  • Stop #8: Detainees
  • During this stop most people were sent into quarantine because they did not pass the medical exam. During this time when some of the immigrants were in quarantine their hearing weren't even heard for months.
