  • Geography and Location of Rome
  • Myth of Romulus and Remus
  • Etruscan influence on Roman engineering 
  • Rome is West of the Tiber River and is very mountainous. It also has many rivers and streams.
  • Etruscan influence of sports on the Romans 
  • Romulus and Remus started a town on the banks that a wolf saved them. Then an argument over who would rule resulted in Romulus killing his brother 
  • Greek influence of architecture on the Romans
  • The Etruscans invented the arch way to relieve the main columns of having to take on all of the weight/pressure. The Romans later started using that same arch way in their buildings.
  • Influence of Greek religion 
  • At a funeral two of the dead masters slaves would fight to the death only to be congratulated and then killed. Spectators of these events also enjoyed watching the 4 horse team chariot races.  
  • Romans used Greek designs for their own public buildings. The Romans also used concrete to build huge stadiums such as the Colosseum. 
  • The Romans Adapted many of the Greek gods and others. They also gave the Greek gods different names such as changing Zeus to Jupiter.
