- Officer Rusakov found the books around the town and burned them. They were Lithuanian books which the Russians didn't like. He chased after Adrua until he caught her and took her away.
- Officer Rusakov demanded that Audra tell him who the other book smuggler was and where to find him. If she didn't the he would send her with her parents to work hard to build train stations in Siberia.
- After Audra's escape Lukas and herself were crossing the border which is extremely dangerous to get books to deliver back to Lithuanian.
- Officer Rusakov's soldiers had started to drown people. Audra and Lukas tried to save as much people as they could and Ben also went to help.
- Lukas decided to go home with his Officer Rusakov leaving Audra in tears as there was a chance they might not see each other again.
- Lukas had come back by the time Audra was 23 and she was putting flowers on Milda's grave. They were happy to see each other and got married with children of their own.
