Storyboard Text

  • 5th March 1933 - persecution of he Jews began, many attacked, some even killed and many Jewish businesses were harassed or destroyed.
  • 1934 - shops were marked with the yellow Star of David, on public transport Jews has to sit on seats specifically marked for them.
  • 1935 - Nuremberg laws had passed, Hitler wanted to make life so miserable for Jewish people to make them leave the country. Those who couldn’t afford to leave, their life became unpleasant - many shops refused to sell food to them, mediciones were hard to get as chemists would not sell them to Jewish people.
  • 1936 - Berlin Olympics - the persecution of the Jews became relaxed for a while, while the Olympic were going on but as soon as the cameras and news reporters left, the Jewish Violence started again and reached a peak with KRISTALLNACHT ‘night of the broken glass’
  • 1935 - new rules stated that Jews could not longer be knows as citizens of Germany, this meant they did not have protection and weren’t able to official papers or passports.
  • 1938 - KRISTALLNACHT - 10,000 shops owned by Jewish people were destroyed. Houses and synagogues were set on fire and left to burn. 91 Jews were killed and around 20,000 were sent to concentration camps.
