Storyboard Text

  • Did you hear the news? The civil war is finally over.
  • Oh really! That is such great news after all this heartache and hurt!
  • Well, i'm so happy that it is over. Although I do wonder if we could have avoided it in any way possible?
  • Well, let’s take a look!
  • Does he fact that people knew slavery would be abolished if Pres.Lincoln was elected have anything to do with it?
  • Yes, that is a good start because, if Abraham Lincoln was not elected president we might not of had war, but I think the reasons go beyond that.
  • If the southern states had not succeeded we might not of had war and might of been able to make a compromise.
  • In my opinion I think that if the northern states would of let the south secede without fighting for them we wouldn’t have the problem of war.
  • I do believe that one of the main problems that we could of avoided was the attack on Fort Sumter. If they hadn’t done this we might of been able to negotiate a solution!
  • So technically overall slavery was the main point or cause of the Civil War. Which we might of been able to avoid if African American people were free to begin with?
  • Yes! Looks like you got it down.
