Storyboard Text

  • The spirits bring a banquet to Alonso, but Prospero, who is invisible, and Ariel interrupt to say how Alonso, Sebastian, and Antonio are sinners and were brought to this island because they drove out Prospero. Ariel also says how Alonso´s son, Ferdinand is dead because of them, which makes Alonso very shaken and sad.
  • ¨Oh, it´s monstrous...The name of Prospero. It did bass my trespass. Therefore my son i´ th´ ooze is bedded¨ (Act 3, scene 3, line 96).
  • ¨You are three men of sin...nothing but hearts´ sorrow and a clear life ensuing.¨ (Act 3, scene 3, line 54).
  • Prospero tells Ariel to summon the spirits to perform a masque for the blessing of Ferdinand and Miranda to get married.
  • ¨Then as my gift and thine own acquisition worthily purchased, take my daughter¨ (Act 4, scene 1, line 14).
  • ¨As I hope for quiet days, fair issue, and long life¨ (Act 4, scene 1, line 23).
  • ¨Go with me to bless this twain that they may prosperous be and honored in their issue¨ (Act 4, scene 1, line 103).
  • (sings) ¨Honor, riches, marriage, blessing, long continuance, and increasing hourly joys be still upon you¨ (Act 4, scene 1, line 106).
  • Prospero traps everyone in a magic circle that freezes them. He talks to everyone about what they did wrong and how he forgives them for what they did. King Alonso reinstates Prospero as the duke of Milan so that he can get Ferdinand back.
  • ¨Thy dukedom I resign and do entreat thou pardon me my wrongs¨ (Act 5, scene 1, line 118).
  • (to Gonzalo) ¨First, noble friend, let me embrace thine age, whose honor cannot be measured or confined¨ (Act 5, scene 1, line 121).
  • (to Antonio) ¨I do forgive thy rankest fault, all of them, and require my dukedom thee¨ (Act 5, scene 1, line 131).
  • (aside to Sebastian and Antonio) ¨But you, my brace lords, were I so minded, I here could pluck his highness´ frown upon you and justify these traitors¨ (Act 5, scene 1, line 126).
  • Prospero is talking to the audience and wants to be released to go back to his dukedom. He doesn´t have his magic anymore and wants to be set free and forgiven for the things he has done.
  • ¨Now my charms are all o'erthrown...but release me from my bands...now I want Spirits to enforce, art to enchant...unless I be relieved by prayer...mercy itself and frees all faults. As you from crimes would pardoned be, Let your indulgence set me free¨ (Epilogue, line 1).
