- Everyday, Mr. White was working hard at the lumber yard, hoping to find any reason to quit his inadequate job. Today, he knew something was going to change. He was just finishing his daily routine, when he found a note and a monkey's paw on some of the lumber. He decided to open the note and read it. Hold this in your right hand and make a wish, but use this at your own risk. He was a little skeptical at first, but decided to try it out.
- He left immediately and rushed to get back home to make his wish. He finally had something to look forward to. Mr. White was joined by his wife right after he made his wish. He wished for a new job opening to be opened near him. His wife thought he was crazy, asking him what he was doing with that strange object in his hand. Mr. White told her that he found the object in the woods, and he was only just messing around. He didn't actually believe in the paw.
- Mr. White woke up the next day with a rush. Herbert had awoken the man with a large bang downstairs. He had been fired from his job, due to a new business opening up. Mr. White wondered if it was just coincidence or if it was due to the monkey's paw. Regardless, he immediately joined the crew and had high expectations for his new job.
- The next day he visited his job, walking into a huge building with lots of riches throughout it. Mr. White was told by his boss that he was to be a test rat. Mr. White thought that it was a joke at first, but then the doors behind him closed and the lights dimmed. He tried running but failed miserably, causing him to be tied to a bench, waiting for his demise.
- He awoke later, trying to remember what had happened to him. He felt sick and had a terrible rash on his arms. The doctors told him that he was going to be going into another testing soon. This caused the man to panic, thinking of ways to get out of this. His mind was clouded but then, he remembered what was in his pocket.
- He realized what he had to do to get rid of his suffering. Mr. White decided to try the monkey's paw one final time. He reached into his pocket, pulling out the cursed paw. Moments later, he lay dead.
