- 1919 – Treaty of Versailles was signed.Designed to punish Germany for damage caused during the war.

- 1919 - “League of Nations” was created.Idea of Collective Security countries standing together against aggression. USA didn’t join the league – chose a policy of isolationism. Without USA the League lacked leadership power.

- 1929 – The Wall Street Market crashed. Created unstable governments around the World.

- 1933 – Adolf Hitler becomes the leader of Germany. Wanted to rebuild Germany make it a superpower again. Began to secretly rebuild the German army.
- 1936 – Hitler marched into the Rhineland in France. No one took any action in fear of starting another war. 1938 – Hitler demanded the return of the Sudetenland. Germany, Britain, France Italy signed the Munich Agreement. Gave the Sudetenland back to Germany. Hitler promised this was last land demand.
- 1939 – Hitler Stalin signed the Nazi-Soviet Pact. Agreement not to go to war with each other Both would invade Poland split it.
