This is the story of Dred Scott, a slave in many states. I say this because his master traveled everywhere and anywhere. One day his master died in a free state and left Scott there with his family. Scott decided to sue his masters widow for freedom because he was on free soil. This is what happened in the court room.
What is the issue here?
My clients master was a person who traveled. He traveled to free and slave states. Recently, though, he went to a free state with this man and his family. Then died there. Now the issue is is he is suing the master's widow for freedom. Now that he was on free soil. That will be all.
This man has no legal rights to sue this women. Just because you are on free soil doesn't mean you could sue.
