Telemachus is in Ithaca and arrives at a farm. He meets with an old friend, Eumaeus.
"'No, I am not a god'...'I am your father-the Odysseus you wept for all your days.'" (16. 209-213)
Telemachus meets a Odysseus disguised as a beggar.Odysseus says he is sorry to hear of the sad state of affairs at the palace. He offered any help he could. The beggar says if he was Odysseus, he would deserve death if he did not fight his enemies, and that he would willingly die fighting them rather than put up with their insulting behavior.
"'Strike first, I say, and kill him!'" (16.422)
Athena then meets with Odysseus and changes him into back to himself so that Telemachus and Odysseus can plan their revenge
Odysseus and Telemachus have an emotional reunion and they come up with their plan, they decide to keep Odysseus’s return a secret
The suitors overhear the news of Telemachus’s return and plan to kill him on native land
Telemachus meets with Penelope and informs her about his journey. He tells her Odysseus is trapped on Calypso’s Island
