- Adrien is a round character who changed when his adoptive parents died. Adrien is also a static character. In this novel he was described with long hair and a wrinkled vest.

- Grace is a round character and dynamic because she eventually realizes the pain she has caused. In the novel she is described as persise, neat, and "picture of perfection".

- A theme that I found early on in this novel was human vs. nature when their parents lab started on fire.

- Imagery- "A letter, handwritten on vellum, slipped out and into my palm, weighted by something that was folded within. When I saw what it was, my breath caught in my throat. I recognized it instantly." (page 35)
