When I was in school I remember learning about the code of ethics and standards of practice. We have an ethical responsibility to uphold regarding the best interest of Kia. I am going to Talk to Sam about this again and ask for her support. But this time I will explain my reseaoning and the importance.
I really wanted Sam's support in the meeting with Kia's family. I know its okay to have different options but I truly believe Kia is on the autism spectrum and that needs to be assessed.
I am going to have a meeting with Kia's family later today and I would really appreciate your support.
Hey Sam, I am sorry to bother you about this again but I need to talk to you about setting up a meeting with Kia's family. I know you think Kia is not on the spectrum but it is our duty as educators to support children in their learning and development.
I had no idea you felt so strongly about this Charlie. I appreciate you taking your time to observe and care for the children, I will come and help support you in the meeting.
I understand that I am a newer educator, however, my skills and judgement should not be diminished based off of my age or the fact that I just graduated. I would apperiate if you viewed me as an equal educator and did not make comments like that again in the future.
Thank you Sam, that makes me feel much more comfortable as you have known the family for many years and extra support is always helpful. I did want to let you know that I did not appreciate your comment earlier.
I am really sorry Charlie. I did not think of my comment begin offensive in that way, but I can see how it would be. I think you're a great educator and i'm sorry if I ever made you feel inferior.
Thank you for your apology, that means a lot with me. Kia's family has just arrived, are you ready to have a meeting?
Yes I am! Thank you for coming and talking to me. I appreciate the honesty. Okay lets go!
