- It's a day before Christmas and it takes place in England.
- Della and Jim live in a apartment together and there poor, they don't make a lot of money.
- Della (Wife)
- Jim (husband)
- Della´s problem is she only has $1.87 and wants to get a gift for Jim and does not know what to do. She starts crying due to frustration.
- Will you buy my hair?
- $20 for your hair.
- Della cuts her hair to get money to buy Jim a gift.
- I might get this chain for Jim it will go great with his watch.
- Now Della has $21.87 so she goes to town, gets Jim a chain for this watch. Della spends $21 for Jim's chain.
- $21 for chain
- Jim and Della both think its a good plan to save the gifts because they both lost there special things that belongs to them. They both sacrifice the most important things that they own to get a gift this shows that they both love each other and will do anything.
- I have a gift for you to but sold your watch to get me combs for my hair.
- Della you cut you hair. I had a gift for you but you don't have you long hair. I think it's better of we save our gifts.
